Add a job posting to see how well you match
We compare the terms the posting leans on against your resume. Nothing is stored.
What we check
- Contact details
- Whether an email, phone number and LinkedIn URL are present and findable.
- Section headings
- Experience, Education, Skills and Summary — the labels parsers file your content under.
- Measurable results
- How many of your bullets carry a number, which is what separates a claim from evidence.
- Action verbs
- Bullets that open with "responsible for" or "worked on" instead of what you actually did.
- Length and density
- Word count against the 350–800 range that fits one or two pages.
- Layout risks
- Tables and columns that older applicant tracking systems read out of order.
- Filler phrases
- "Team player", "detail-oriented" and friends, which say nothing about you.
- Job match
- Optionally, how many of a posting's key terms your resume already covers.
Why resumes get filtered out
Most large employers run applications through an applicant tracking system before a person sees them. The system reads your file, tries to work out where your jobs, dates and skills are, and stores them as fields. If it can't find a heading it recognises, or the layout scrambles the reading order, your experience lands in the wrong place or not at all.
Beyond parsing, a recruiter spends a few seconds deciding. Bullets that describe duties rather than results, no numbers anywhere, and generic phrases are the usual reasons a qualified person is passed over. The checks above cover both: machine-readable structure, and the content a human actually weighs.
